I have enjoyed music from an early age and played the recorder, then piano at school, where I also loved singing my heart out in the choir. Later on my studies led me towards the sciences and I studied for a PGCE in chemistry. I went on to teach in secondary schools until I had my twin boys in April 2002 when I took a break to bring them up. I have always sung to them, anything and everything, and have been amazed at how they have responded to all forms of music.
In September 2006 my children started school and I found myself looking for a career that would fit in with my changed family life. Having been 'on the circuit' as a mother of small children, I realised how much I enjoy interacting with the very young and their parents alike. I discovered Kindermusik and knew it was the right choice for me as it combines my love of children and music with my skills as a teacher.
There are many features of Kindermusik that impress me. Having a scientific background, I love the fact that every activity in a Kindermusik class has a specific purpose in the development of the whole child. Kindermusik is well-researched and incorporates current developments in early childhood pedagogy. The music is varied, featuring music from many genres and cultures and above all else, Kindermusik is fun.
I obtained my licence to teach Kindermusik in January 2007.
